A Deep Yearning

A Deep Yearning

Once it happens in the life of every human being
Whatever his position or his lot in life
When the soul yearns for his final freeing
From the continuous and unceasing strife
Deep down there is an unfulfilled longing in the mind
The question is unknown where can I answer find?

There comes a moment when life loses it’s savor
The salt of wealth becomes worthless
The mind grows weary of the world’s capricious favor
And for something it cannot find
I experience a knocking in the empty canyons of my mind
Deep there is an unfulfilled longing in the mind

At one time in life while kind friends thronging
About one’s life path with sweet acts of grace
Still, there is a nagging overwhelming wishing
For something that one can’t name or place
An unusual desire still torments the mind
Deep down there is an unfulfilled longing in the mind

If beauty could appease one’s craving and material give fulfillment
Then the sea of comfort was enough to set sail in
The Ocean of love could satiate one’s yearning
Then I would have soaked myself in waves of love surging
Yet my restless heart sighed and pined
Deep down there is an unfulfilled longing in my mind

I tried to walk on oft trodden paths to quench my thirst
My longing and lingering still hungered for more
When I knelt and wept and prayed for His grace
I called out ardently the light shone on my face
Each cell of my body vibrated with energy divine
Deep down in my mind, the longing turned into peace sublime
